Overview & History
The Bombardier Global 5000 has been in production for over 15 years. Originally announced in 2001, the first aircraft flew in March 2003. Deliveries started two years later. There are currently around 250 Global 5000 aircraft in active service.
The Global 5000 is based on the Bombardier Global Express aircraft but features a reduction in cabin length. The Global 5000 is capable of journeys such as London to Mumbai and Paris to Chicago.
Designed to carry up to 16 passengers on long-range flights, Bombardier says that the “Global 5000 aircraft was designed to help you get things done”. The perfect environment for business meetings, sleeping, and relaxing.
Bombardier Global 5000 Performance
The Global 5000 is powered by two Rolls-Royce BR710A2-20 turbofan engines. Each engine is capable of putting out 14,750 lbs of thrust.
Therefore, the Global 5000 can take off with just 5,540 feet of runway in front of it. The minimum landing distance comes in at just 2,207 feet.
Impressive numbers for such a large aircraft.
When set up for the optimum range the Global 5000 can fly 5,200 Nautical Miles (5,984 Miles / 9,630 KM) without needing to refuel.
The aircraft is capable of flying at a maximum altitude of 51,000 feet at a maximum speed of 499 knots.
The top speed of the aircraft is 0.89 Mach. The Global 5000 is capable of a high-speed cruise of 0.88 Mach and has a typical cruise speed of 0.85 Mach.
Bombardier Global 5000 Interior
The Bombardier Global 5000 is designed in the classic Global aircraft style. That is to say, quiet, tasteful, and comfortable.
Firstly, the advanced wing design of the aircraft provides passengers with a restful and smooth flight.
Additionally, the aircraft features the widest cabin in its class, resulting in more room than its closest competitor. Therefore, passengers can expect maximum comfort and an exceptional cabin experience.
Entering the cabin reveals a large, reimagined cabin interior. Seats have been sculpted to welcome the human body and the elegant lines of the cabin come together to create an aesthetic masterpiece.
The all-new seats boast outstanding width, higher armrests, and an impeccably shaped backrest. Passengers, therefore, are able to enjoy a delightful and inviting experience. Therefore making the aircraft ideally suited to long-distance travel.
Ultimately, whether you are looking to work, rest or play, the Global 5000 provides the perfect environment to sit back and relax.
The Global 5000 is able to keep you always connected. No matter where you are. Bombardier has given the Global 5000 the fastest available in-flight internet connectivity technology. Therefore you will be able to keep up with work and join video conferences.
If that’s not your style the WiFi is even strong enough to online game. Depending on your requirements you are able to select from multiple data packages, allowing you to choose the right speed for you.
Bombardier claims that the cabin management system on the Global 5000 is “the most comprehensive … system”.
Claimed to be ultra-fast, reliable, intuitive, and hosting a large media bay.
This system enables passengers to wirelessly watch movies and display documents on the large high definition TV monitors around the cabin.
Passengers are able to control the entire cabin from their personal devices (iOS and Android).
The Bombardier Global 5000 has a maximum cabin altitude of just 5,680 feet and a cabin noise level of 52 decibels.
This makes the Global 5000 the perfect environment to forget you are flying. The layout of the aircraft provides space for a private stateroom at the rear of the cabin.
This adds a sense of tranquility, featuring large windows and a full-berthing divan, a spacious wardrobe, independent temperature control, and a lavatory.
Consequently, you can be sure you will arrive at your destination feeling well-rested and ready to seize the day.
Conversely, at the front of the cabin, you will find the fully-equipped galley.
Substantial storage and extensive work surfaces ensure to elevate your comfort thanks to its greater meal capabilities. The galley is set between the cockpit and main cabin area in order to increase passenger privacy.
Finally, Bombardier has made the luggage compartment accessible during the flight. This means that you are always able to access your belongings whenever you require them.
Upfront the Global 5000 features the latest technology and design to bring you the most advanced and reliable flying experience.
Featuring the Bombardier Vision flight deck, the Global 5000 is said to be an “exceptional experience”.
Bombardier claims that this flight deck is “business aviation’s most advanced avionics suite”. Ergonomics and aesthetics provide pilots with outstanding comfort and control.
A unique combination of features, such as the Synthetic Vision System and the MultiScan weather radar, contribute to enhancing situational awareness at any time and in any weather.
Therefore, pilot workload is reduced and efficiency drastically increased. Consequently, pilots and passengers can enjoy a safer flight.
